Flat Roof Coat
Our new moisture tolerant coating is based on silane technology for long lasting high performance
Blocksil Flat Roof Coat MT is a high quality waterproofing system for flat roofs that is both moisture tolerant and surface tolerant.
Fully overcoatable, this coating is based on silane technology. These hybrid polymers have properties that are comparable to those of polyurethane based liquid waterproofing coatings. Flat Roof Coat MT has a low viscosity and can be manufactured without the addition of solvents or plasticizers.
Waterproofing is a wide-ranging topic for the construction sector: the diversity of applications from basement to roof is matched by that of the products. Waterproofing products processed in liquid form are becoming increasingly important and have established themselves securely on the market. By making use of innovative chemistry we are taking the waterproof coating market into the next generation.
The Flat Roof Coat MT one-component end products do not require classification as hazardous substances and adhere to most substrates with minimal pre-treatment. They can be applied by roller or brush – so craftsmen can work as normal. Due to their moisture-curing properties, they can be processed in all kinds of weather: even on cold days and on damp substrates.
Curing results in a tack-free waterproofing that is rainproof in no time and features good mechanical strength and excellent resistance to chemicals. Furthermore it bridges cracks and is watertight, yet permits permeation of water vapour, thus allowing the substrate to breathe.
Thanks to their unique property profile, the hybrid waterproofing products can be used in a variety of applications, e.g.:
Blocksil Flat Roof Coat MT comes with added fibres for enhanced tear strength. If ETAG 005 is required, the coating could be used with a fleece and the coating supplied without the fibres.
Usually supplied in 1, 5 and 15 litre tubs, the colour is anthracite grey.
Designed and made in the UK, our one coat application coating will comfortably outperform silicone, alkyd, polyurethane and bitumen based coatings.
The coating is VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) free, slip resistant to BS7976, UV stable and weather resistant. And thanks to it’s amazing pressure resistance, the coating will not allow water to penetrate it. This also makes the Flat Roof MT suitable for basement waterproofing.
The positive pressure of 6 bar means the coating will withstand ponding water.
The negative pressure of 4.5 bar means the coating can be used in basements without the water pushing it’s way through.
Does the coating work?
We coated a piece of plywood all over with a very thin coating of Flat Roof Coat – some 50 microns, so considerably thinner than would be applied on a roof. This coated sample was submerged in water outside for three months. A stone was used to keep the sample under water.
After the three months the coated sample was taken out of the now stagnant water and weighed. No weight gain.
Then the sample was sawn open to reveal the plywood. It was as dry as the day it was bought, with absolutely no water ingress at all.
A simple test but it confirmed the performance of the coating.
