Locally repair or seal worn pieces of metal
Blocksil Metal Repair Coatings are primarily based on epoxy technology and are designed to give the user the ability to locally repair or seal a worn piece of metal. Very often the repair can be carried out in situ. The application is straightforward with no specific training needed.
Suitable for emergency repairs or part of planned maintenance to equipment such as worn or damaged pump shafts, cracked pump or valve casings, scored hydraulic rams, worn bearing housings, damaged flanges, leaking tank seams, worn keyways and cracked engine blocks.
The material can also be used as a gap filling adhesive.
There are several coatings in the range. Some are for rebuilding damaged metallic surfaces and some for sealing or plugging leaking surfaces. We can even supply a coating that will seal or repair underwater surfaces.
Most are solvent free and fast curing, with a touch dry time between 30 minutes and 60 minutes, with an option for a slower cure version for warmer climates or operating conditions.
The coating thickness is typically between 3mm and 25mm without sagging and application is by spatula or gloved hand. A couple of coatings from the range are machinable.
For heavier duty, wear and abrasion resistant ceramic loaded coatings are available. These have similar overall properties to the standard range though tend to take longer to cure and perhaps not build to as a high a thickness. Their main benefit comes from having the hardened ceramic particles within the epoxy base which give the improved wear and abrasion performance.
